Alpaca Fleece – Saddle Pad
These saddle pads are a highly functional alternative to conventional sheepskin saddle pads and also provide the ideal solution for extremely sensitive horses.
Alpaca wool/fleece offers key advantages, such as its natural cushioning, which helps distribute pressure evenly across the horse’s back. Alpaca wool relieves pressure and stands out for its exceptional breathability, allowing optimal air circulation between the horse’s back and the saddle, thus preventing heat build-up and excessive sweating.
Alpaca fleece saddle pads are antibacterial and therefore require only infrequent washing. Before the first wash, the pad should be soaked in cold water for 48 hours to prevent the cotton from shrinking. For washing, fold the pad with the fleece facing inward and wash at 30°C on a wool cycle using a mild detergent. The fleece dries quickly and can be gently fluffed up with your fingers—do not comb or use harsh brushes. Before washing, loose horse hair should be removed with a soft natural-bristle brush to protect the material.
